Bio

DSC_0007 (2)I am a long-time member of Peterborough Science Fiction Club, contributing to the club fanzine A Change of Zinery in the 1990s, and setting up the Peterborough Science Fiction Writers’ Group. For this I edited two small press collections of short fiction, Shadows on a Broken Wall (the theme was radioactivity) and Mother Milk, Father Flywheel, which explored the interaction of man with machine, and ran a weekend workshop on writing for comics. I have had book reviews published in the British Science Fiction Association review magazine, Vector and was accepted as a reviewer for Beyond Science Fiction and Fantasy – before it went down.

In 1995 I returned to full-time education. After graduating from Anglia Ruskin University in Geology and Planetary science in 2000, I taught Geology and Creative Writing evening classes, and edited further collections of work by my Creative Writing students. From 2004 – 2006, I contributed geological articles to Deposits, an amateur magazine with high production values.

I organised and ran a series of writers’ workshops for the 2013 Peterborough Arts Festival, at the Key Theatre. Great fun! And on February 7th, 2015, at Peterborough Central Library, I took part in Author’s Day, a mini-literature festival, including running a workshop on self-publishing.

Floodtide was my first novel, and was followed by The Stallion, a novelette, and She… in 2018. This year (2023) I have published both The Zarduth Imperative: Discovery and the sequel, TZI: Clanship in print and Discovery as an e-book, with Clanship to follow. I have several more stories about the Zarduthi to write, but my next book will be The Invisible Dance, a story about the planet Aka-Kara, whose nine tribes are so divided that they had to invite a human to be their Perhuai (leader).
